Mr John Gray LLB (Hons), BVC/PgDip, MA Medical Law & Healthcare Ethics

Mr John Gray is a Barrister specialising in cases at the interface of law and medicine, primarily undertaking high value personal injury work and clinical negligence cases.

Mr Gray is a member of the Personal Injury Bar Association, Professional Negligence Bar Association, Merseyside Medico-Legal Society and Lincolns Inn. Northern Circuit.

Mr Gray worked in law firms in Sydney, Australia and also in the legal department of HM Customs & Excise.

In 2009, Mr Gray was the co-founder of one of the first Legal Disciplinary Practices in the country. He continued as the co-Managing Director of that practice for 10 years whilst also consulting for Oriel Chambers at the independent Bar. He is public access qualified and one of the few barristers nationally authorised to conduct litigation. He therefore has a much greater insight into how solicitors run cases than many members of the Bar.

Mr Gray is a Civil Medication Council Accredited Mediator having undertaken mediator training with the Academy of Experts and University of Central Lancashire.

He also holds a number of part time judicial appointments, including sitting as a Recorder in the Family Court (public and private law work), a Nominated Judge of the Court of Protection (Tier 2) and a Judge of the First Tier Tribunal (Mental Health)(Restricted Patients Panel).

Mr Gray is also a member of the University of Liverpool’s Research Ethics Committee and has been a student mentor at the University since 2007.
